Academic Contests

During the school year, children are invited to participate in a number of academic contests. These contests occur on an annual basis:
 
*Metroplex Lutheran Schools Math Contest for students in grades 5-8.  Top math students are selected  in each classroom by testing and teacher recommendation.
 
*Math Counts for students in grades 7-8.  Students work outside of regular classes preparing for qualifying exams. Selection is based on the results of the exam.  They represent the school in further competition.
 
*Private School Interscholastic Association (PSIA) - for students in grades 1-8.  Participation is open to all students in these grades.  Academic competition is offered in a wide variety of subject areas.  Students compete in Regional and State competition in the spring.
 
*Spelling Bee for students in grades 4-8.  Participation is open to all students in these grades.  Classroom competition determines who will compete in school competition. Winner of school competition represents St. Paul in local and regional bees.
 
*Science Fair for all students in grades 5-8. A committee judges the projects.
 
*Geography Bee for students in grades 4-8.  Participation is open to all students in these grades.  Classroom competition determines who will compete in school competition. The winner in the school competition takes a test to determine if he/she will move on to state level.
 
*Concordia Field Day for students in grades 7-8.  Students compete in athletic, academic, and performing arts events at Concordia University, Austin.
