This fall is Tony Pate's second year at St. Paul Lutheran School. He is currently the 1st-8th  Physical Education Teacher, Jr. High Social Studies Teacher, and Athletic Director.
 
Mr. Pate grew up a in North Richland Hills, Texas, graduating from Richland High School in 1998. At Richland, he participated in football, and track, advancing to Regionals for discus his senior year.
 
In Fall of 1999, he was asked to join the Concordia University (Chicago) Cougar Football team. During his career as linebacker, Pate earned Cougar Defensive Player of the year, All-Conference in 2000 and 2003, a position on the 2000 Lutheran Brotherhood All-American Team, and broke an NCAA Division III record for fumbles gained (2000).
 
In 2004, Pate earned his B.A. in Law and Justice. He returned to Texas where he spent 7 years as a Police Officer for the City of Bedford where he currently works part-time. During that time, he also obtained his teaching certification in the state of Texas.
 
Last year, under Pate's leadership, gym improvements were made, and cross country was added for 7-8th graders. Also, 2010-2011 athletic accomplishments include: 5th/6th Boys' Basketball Team had an undefeated season, 7/8th Girls' Cross Country placed second at regionals, 7/8th Boys' Cross Country Team won the CSAF Regional Championships, and the 7/8th Girls' Basketball Team won the LMST Division II State Championship.
 
While the program has had a successful year, Pate still feels that the focus should remain on God, "I strongly believe that every student should have a chance to participate in a variety of sports. We emphasize faith in God, most importantly, along with good sportsmanship, teamwork, and a strong work ethic."

 
 
Athletics are offered at a competitive level beginning in 5th grade. The sports activities for girls include volleyball, soccer, cross-country (7th/8th), and basketball. The sports included for boys are soccer, cross-country (7th/8th), and basketball. Students in kindergarten through 8th grade receive exposure to several different sport activities and games in the school Physical Education Program.
