Guidelines & Procedures
DisciplineOur purpose for all discipline with young children is to help them become increasingly self-managing and socially responsible. We are committed to help children learn to express and manage their feelings, cooperate with other children, and negotiate their own conflicts. Only positive, non-punitive methods are used to achieve this goal. The staff fully recognizes the limitations of a young child’s ability to manage emotions and control reactions.
Emergency/Accident ProceduresIn case of accidental injury requiring medical assistance, we will make an immediate attempt to contact either parent. If the parent cannot be reached, we will call the child’s physician, and then the other emergency contact numbers. If the injury is serious, an ambulance will be called immediately. The child’s physician and/or the paramedics will make the decision for treatment. In case of a small accident (scraped knees, etc.), the staff will administer first aid treatment. The parent will be informed of these injuries when pick-up is made. All such accidents will be reported on an Accident Form sent home with the child. This report will contain the nature of the accident, how and when the accident occurred, and, the first aid treatment procedure followed by the staff. Since emergency situations are never expected, it is imperative that all phone numbers on the student form be up to date and current. Please make every effort to keep this form updated. Make sure we have both parents home numbers, office numbers, cell phone numbers, pager numbers and in the event of a job change or a move, notify us immediately of any new numbers. Once a month, during our school year, fire and tornado drills are practiced. This is done to help the children be prepared for either event. Release of ChildrenChildren will be released to a parent or persons authorized by the parents on the child’s enrollment form. Please note, the Director must have a written note from the child's parent(s) authorizing someone else to pick up their child/children. Simply listing a person on their enrollment form is not enough. We need to be informed when someone different picks up a child. Anyone other than the parent, will be required to present their driver’s license for identification. Should the parent want to add or remove someone from the child’s authorized pick-up list, it is the parent’s responsibility to keep these names current. If someone other that those listed on the enrollment form is to pick up your child, we MUST receive authorization from the parent in writing and we Will NOT accept authorization over the telephone,. However, a fax to our school’s office will be accepted. The fax number is 817-332-2640. This fax must be in our hands before your child will be released. Your child WILL NOT be released to anyone that is not listed on the enrollment form or authorized by your signature. This same rule applies to people that are listed on your enrollment forms. We still require a note giving them permission to pick up your child. This allows us to prepare the staff and the child. If a child is not to be release to a parent listed, it must be pursuant to a custody order and a copy of the court order must be placed in the child’s folder. If this document is not in the child’s folder, we will be obligated to release the child to either parent. It this situation applies to your child, please bring this to the Director’s attention immediately. |
