Water to Thrive Fact Sheet
Did you know…?
· Half of the population in rural Ethiopia is sick due to a water-related illness.
· One of every 10 children dies before his 5th birthday because of waterborne disease.
· Women and girls walk an average of 5 hours a day to collect water.
· Many girls are unable to go to school. They miss the opportunity for an education, which is probably their best chance of escaping poverty.
· The average cost of a hand-dug well is $3,500. A typical village has 500 people, just $7 per person to change a life!
· 100% of all Water to Thrive donations go directly to the well.
